It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the record chasers, are the only things left for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if not provided the chance.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her newest gem.

Then best known as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not come up short.

If this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Many contend the argument supporting championship match pressure. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it's been a disappointing period because I feel like I lacked timing at all," said Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her great strength - and a priceless quality in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the right-hander was on her way.

"The possibility to take the field and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was removed her side needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this championship need to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this success succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

Yet even as she later admitted those injuries have postponed plans to retire, this tournament is expected to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
