Whenever a major prize-giving event nears, there’s always a clamor to include of new categories to acknowledge underappreciated efforts and fill the spirits of enthusiasts dedicated to specific genres.
Another commentator has already made advocating for terror-themed awards. It would be amazing. The same goes for tabletop games, which is someone's personal cause. However, I must insist if I try to elbow in front just as with other dedicated enthusiasts, there's a strong justification supporting my request remains most pressing above others. The demand is this: There should be a category for puzzle games.
Organizing Gaming Categories
Classifying creative works defies precise measurement; opinions vary greatly, and it will always start arguments and end in fuzzy definitions. It's understandable that cinema institutions don’t do it. But it is an essential concession within the realm of gaming, showing incredible range they hardly constitute a single creative category.
For comprehensive acknowledgment of achievement in video games to receive acknowledgment, and to ensure all game types to have a chance for representation, genre categories are essential.
Current Gaming Award Categories
Leading game ceremonies currently feature classifications covering Action-oriented games, Action/Adventure, RPG experiences, Fighting, Sim/Strategy, plus athletic and racing experiences. Together, these six categories successfully include many game types, and you can find room for most games within them.
Not so for logic-based experiences. No suitable classification appears to put them. Think about these outstanding current releases, each quite distinct: building puzzles in a particular game, the pulse-pounding block-matching of another game, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles in another game. Where could they possibly go among existing types? Nowhere, that’s where.
Recognition Challenges
There are dozens outstanding logic titles released every year without proper recognition in entertainment awards, except when they manage to fit award groups including Mobile Game, VR/AR Game, or the extremely competitive independent game categories.
- One classic puzzle game got overlooked completely that year
- A different innovative game received no nominations during that ceremony
- A beloved organization game was overlooked recently
- Limited numbers of brain-teasers barely qualified for niche award types
Importance of Logic Titles
Commonly they're compact experiences, but the art of the puzzle game carries substantial weight. Iconic mobile puzzle games stand as most popular titles worldwide maintaining this status for many years.
The famous puzzle experience competes with popular creative games competing to become most purchased experience; it’s also in the running for top gaming experience. Puzzle games are foundational within interactive entertainment, and they are in conversation across multiple categories.
Recommendation and Reasoning
Puzzle games wouldn’t have that issue. You could fill a field of five interesting, varied, worthy titles every year with ease — perhaps, with difficulty, since numerous excellent numerous deserving experiences.
To emphasize again, these are games lacking appropriate categories at major gaming awards. Puzzle game makers function at the hard edge of video game design, creating some of essential manifestations within interactive entertainment. Comparable to cinema stunt performers, they warrant appreciation. Let’s not keep them waiting 35 years.
